Since 2005, the Heron Rock has been delivering top-quality food, drink, and entertainment to the people of James Bay and Victoria, at affordable prices. We've also fostered a warm and welcoming community atmosphere, where everyone feels comfortable.
As part of our mission to enhance our regional community, our local economy, and most importantly the fresh flavours of our food, we source locally. We support island farmers, foragers, brewers, musicians, winemakers, artists, and other business owners. They’re our neighbours, after all.
All our meats are hormone and antibiotic- free, and many of our veggies are from organic farms on the Saanich Peninsula. We know our guests can taste the quality in our food, and when they leave the Heron Rock they can also know their choices have made a positive impact on this community.

Andrew Moffatt, Proprietor
With a big smile, Andrew has been living his dream of a fun and challenging career since landing his first job at McDonald's. He and friend, Ben Peterson, opened the doors to Heron Rock in May 2005 with the goal of building a neighbourhood place where everyone was welcome and where he would want to spend time too.
Chris Swan, Co-owner & Chef
Chris was born and raised in Victoria, BC. Known in the kitchen as “Swan Dogg,” he is the only employee with us since year one. He started as a busser, transitioned into the kitchen, and now twelve years later, he is the Sous Chef where he runs day-time service. If you have had brunch with us, it was most likely Swan who prepared your meal.
In 2017 Swan became an owner. He is excited to share the vision of sourcing local ingredients, benefiting the local economy and reducing the environmental impact of the restaurant.
Jason Butcher, Floor Manager
Jason was also raised in Victoria. He joined the Heron Rock team in 2010, and became part owner at the Crooked Goose two years later. Jason is an integral part of the front of house team and is probably the most recognizable face in the building. You can count on him to make sure that there is always water for the dogs on the patio.
